Michael Valentino Obituary

Michael J.  Valentino, 66 of Owasco passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family, after a long and courageous battle with ALS.
Michael was born in Auburn, NY, raised in Ithaca, and was an avid swimmer while in school. He worked at Lockheed Martin as an engineer and was most proud of his efforts on the NASA Space Shuttle Program for which he received the Silver Snoopy Award. He enjoyed fishing, golf, and most especially his lifelong vacations in Canada and his time on Owasco Lake with his family. He was often found at the end of a dock fishing with his family around him. His biggest regret was not being able to teach all his grandchildren how to fish. He succumbed to ALS and is now in heaven, fishing with his father and Boo.  Mike lived his life believing that helping others was most important and that while he was a man of few words he always spoke kindly of others.

Michael is survived by his loving wife, Jackie , his sons Carl (Dianne) Valentino, Kyle Abbott, and his daughters Marie (Steve) Hedge, Kathleen Valentino, and Kirstie Abbott,  his mother, Cathy Valentino, sisters Sue (Jeff) Sewell and Joby (Chris) Cowulich, brothers-in-law John (Eve) Allan, Joe (Denise) Allan, sister-in-law Jessica (Chris) Schmidt, grandchildren Aurora and Anthony Valentino, Emma, Sienna, and Charlie Hedge, and Levi Abbott, the mother of his children Teenie, nieces Kayla Sewell, Kimmy (Colin and baby C) Howard, Anne (Campbell) McLaughlin, and Alicia and Julianne Lavarnway,  nephews Tyler Sewell, Nelson Allan, Cameron and Connor Allan, and Steve and Dan Cowulich, aunts and uncles Marge Valentino, Joey Valentino,  Mary and Dominic Commesso, as well as many cousins.

He is predeceased by his father, Carl Valentino, his father and mother-in-law, Nelson and Patricia Allan, his sister-in-law, Jennifer Ferrante, and his uncles Pat and Emo Valentino.
