Patricia Rybash Obituary

Patricia “Tricia” A. Rybash, 78, of Auburn, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, September 24th, 2025 at the Finger Lakes Center for Living.

Patricia, the daughter of the late Frank and Genevieve (Symula) Rybash, was a life-long resident of Auburn. She was a devout communicant of St. Hyacinth’s Catholic Church and a graduate of the Central High Class of 1965. Patricia worked for many years at ALCO/Bombardier and the United Steelworkers Union based out of Syracuse, NY. She proudly displayed a UNION YES bumper sticker on all of her cars.

After her retirement in 2010, Patricia was a devoted caregiver for her mother and sister and enjoyed working as a hostess at Del Lago Casino. She spent last spring as a substitute cafeteria aide for AECSD’s elementary schools, which made her smile every day. Patricia also enjoyed playing Bunco and Kings in the Corner, a family tradition. She loved her pool, vacationing in Florida with friends, and sunshine. An animal lover, Patricia realized her dream of owning horses in the late 90s, and adored her canine companion, Lexi.

Patricia had a flair for life that was unstoppable, a huge smile that matched her heart, and love for the Auburn community.

She is survived by her beloved sister, Jean, niece Michelle (Steve) Milewski, her ‘adopted’ sister Helen Gleason, all of Auburn, and her godson Shawn Blowers. She will be remembered fondly by numerous close friends and coworkers.

Patricia’s family is holding a visitation from 10 am - 11:30 am at St. Hyacinth’s Church at 61 Pulaski St., where her grandfather was a founding member, followed by a funeral mass. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.

In addition to her parents, Patricia was predeceased by her favorite brother-in-law, Jerry Prego, and cherished friend Cynthia Tortorello Carpenter.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in Patricia’s name to the Finger Lakes SPCA of CNY, located at 41 York St., Auburn.
