Paul W. Lattimore Jr., 84, of Auburn, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family, on April 2, 2025.
A lifelong resident of Auburn, Paul was the son of the late Elizabeth and Paul W. Lattimore Sr. He was a devout Catholic and a longtime communicant of St. Mary’s Church, where he served proudly on the renovation committee.
Paul graduated from Mount Carmel and attended the University of Buffalo. He owned and operated the former Lattimore Insurance Agency and Lattimore Real Estate Co. for many years. He was deeply committed to his community and actively involved in numerous organizations, including the Cayuga Community College Foundation, Owasco Watershed Lake Association (OWLA), of which he was a founding member, and the Cayuga County Industrial Development Agency (CCIDA). He also took pride in participating in the children's pride program at Genesee Elementary School and served as a board member for O.T.B., among several other committees and civic efforts.
Paul’s greatest joy was his family. He treasured the 57 years he shared with his beloved wife, Mary Ann "May" (Polito) Lattimore. Whether they were traveling, attending their sons’ or grandchildren’s events, or simply enjoying time together, they did so side by side. Paul cherished each day, often saying, “It’s a beautiful day.” He found joy in life’s simpler pleasures—country drives, meals with friends at the Auburn Diner or At Long Last, watching sunrises, or just sitting quietly in nature. His gentle spirit and unwavering love will be deeply missed and forever held in the hearts of those who knew him.
Paul is survived by his devoted sons, Paul (Randi) W. Lattimore III and their children Alison, Jake, and William; and Sean (Beth) Lattimore and their children Sydney and Sean Jr. He is also survived by eleven siblings: Joseph (Maude) Lattimore, Michael Lattimore, Terry (Darlene) Lattimore, Timothy Lattimore, Gregory (Cindy) Lattimore, John Lattimore, Jean Cannizzo, Carol (Jack) Tonzi, Michele (Dennis) Sedor, Richard (Debbie) Lattimore, and Melissa (Ken) Entenmann, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by his cherished wife, Mary Ann “May” Lattimore; two sisters-in-law, Noreen and Debbie Lattimore; and his brother-in-law, Ralph Cannizzo.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, April 7th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, celebrated by Rev. Louis Vasile. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Paul’s memory to Matthew House, 43 Metcalf Drive, Auburn, NY 13021.
A special thank you to the staff at Auburn Community Hospital and to his dedicated caregivers for the compassionate and loving care given to Paul throughout his illness.
