Peter Killian Obituary

Peter Killian, 88of Auburn passed away peacefully, Thursday, May 2, 2024, at SUNY Upstate Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

He was a life resident of Auburn, the son of the late Frank and Anna (Dunchak) Killian. Peter served our country honorably in the US Army during the late fifties and early sixties. Peter retired from the Auburn Police Department after more than 34 years of service and spent 20 of those years as president of the Auburn police local 195 and was former president and treasurer of the Auburn Police Benevolent Association. Peter brought the AFL-CIO Union to Auburn, helping pave the way for many of his fellow officers to have the many benefits and retirement privileges that they well deserved for their service. He was former secretary of Council 82 and worked for many years after retirement in Albany as a staff representative for all of Central New York's law enforcement agencies. Peter worked for over 14 years as a security guard at Wegman's and volunteered for over 20 years at numerous charitable events.  Peter together with Jimmy Cioffa  were instrumental with bringing Big Band concerts to Auburn and their annual Policeman’s Ball.  He also brought Vaudeville to the Schines Theatre and enjoyed following the New York Yankees and Syracuse University sports teams.  Peter loved the many special trips he was fortunate enough to take with his wife and family and will be sadly missed by all of them.
