Phyllis M. (Zorn) Mattie

Phyllis M. (Zorn) Mattie, 89 of Throop, passed away peacefully Friday morning , January 9,2026 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, with her loving family at her side .

  She was born In Louisville, KY the daughter of the late William and Samantie (Schmall) Zorn and had resided in Syracuse for several years, until living most of her adult life in the Auburn area. Prior to her retirement, Phyllis had been employed for more than 30 years for Beneficial Finance. She was a communicant of the former St. John’s Church in Port Byron and a member of its Rosary & Scapular Society . She had a deep devotion to the Blessed Mother and would care for and beautify her shrine  at her home with beautiful flowers. She also enjoyed cooking and caring for her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. Phyllis was a woman of grace , compassion and endless love for family. She will be greatly missed.

  She is survived by her loving children, Michael (Reyne) Mattie, Michele Mattie, Melissa (Thomas) Carbonaro, Matthew Mattie, eight grandchildren, Nicholas Mattie, Thomas (Grace) DeLap, Rachel Carbonaro, Jared Mattie, Jena (Dan) Mabbette, Michael Carbonaro, Cole Mattie, Celia Mattie, four great-grandchildren, Mason Mattie, Mara DeLap, Everett DeLap, Lainey Mabbette, several nieces, nephews,cousins and special friend Sherry Travis.

  An addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband Thomas, two grandsons Anthony Mattie and Thomas Mattie, daughter-in-law, Alicia, Mattie, and three brothers, William, Philip and Harry Zorn.

  Calling hours are Thursday, January 15th from 4-7 pm in Pettigrass Funeral Home,196 Genesee St., Auburn.

  Phyllis’s Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, January 16th at 10:30 am St. Mary’s Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
