Raymond H. Brady Jr.

Raymond H. Brady Jr., (Hought) 92 of Auburn passed away peacefully Friday morning, September 12,2025.

He was born in Syracuse, the son of the late Raymond H. and Louise ( Olmsted) Brady Sr., and had been an area resident for most of his life. He graduated from West High School , attended the University of Miami and NYC Visual Arts School. 

Raymond served 2yrs in the Army HQ Special Troops Command  Fort Benning, GA. 

He was a gifted artist and was pursued by Hallmark for his talent. Instead, he decided to follow his fathers footsteps in the family restaurant business. He owned and operated Close & Brady’s Restaurant for many years, until its closing in 1984. He was a member of the Finger Lakes Car club and former owner of several antique vehicles. 

His creative and fun nature was evident in everything he did including his artwork, his collection of keys for display at the restaurant, his classic cars and his collection of vintage and antique toys. 

Raymond also was an animal lover and cherished all the special times with his family and friends.

He is survived by two children, Lisa Brady and Raymond H. Brady III and niece Betsy Whitmore.

 In addition to his parents, Raymond  has recently lost his loving wife of 68 years, Virginia ( Mastropietro) Brady , who passed away just two days after Ray’s passing. He was also predeceased by a half-sister Barbara Wise.

 A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, September 23rd  at 10:30 am for both Raymond and his wife Virginia at Sacred Heart Church, Melrose Rd., The family will greet friends prior to the Mass in the church from 10 until 10:30. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory to Sacred Heart Church and the SPCA.
