Raymond “Trip” J. Prell III, 60, of Waterloo passed away peacefully at home June 21, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Fort Hood, Texas on December 20, 1962 and served our country honorably in the US Army.
Trip was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He was renowned for his green thumb, specializing in vegetables and the Tegridy of his Christmas trees. Trip’s world revolved around his family. The love for his children was only surpassed by the love for his grandchildren. His home was the place for gathering and comfort, where many memories were made by the whole family. Trip’s love of family extended to his neighbors; he and Daryl spent hours keeping the community entertained with their shenanigans. Known as the ultimate handyman, there was nothing he couldn’t build or fix. All of his kids knew who to call when they needed help with a project. Trip was the Founding Father of “Prell Time,” which was the reason why he was often told to arrive an hour or two early to events, to ensure he was on time.
Trip was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Barbara Prell, as well as his faithful canine companion, Harley, who we know was waiting for him at Heaven’s Gate with nothing but tail wags.
He is survived by the mother of his Children, Lynn, as well as his 6 children; Raymond (Alicia) Prell, Travis (Jodi) Prell, Nichole (Jon) Swasey, Gerald (Jill) Prell, William (Andrea) Prell, and Bethany (Brandon) Dixon. He leaves behind his dearly loved grandchildren: Alyssa, Blake, Leon, Paige, William, Tobias, and Paisley, as well as his Canine Companion, Nala. He is also survived by his siblings, Daniel (Donna) Prell, Sheri (Joe) Marko, Kevin (Heidi) Prell, and Steven Prell, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are Friday, June 30th from 5 to 7 pm in Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St.,Auburn. Services are Saturday at 10:00 am in the funeral home, with his burial to follow in Meridan Cemetery with full military honors to be accorded.
Trip will be loved and missed by everyone blessed enough to have known him. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation- https://www.nfwf.org/what-we-do/donate
