Richard Wood Obituary

Richard T. Wood,  92 of Auburn, went to be with our Lord and Savior on January 2, 2026.
He was a lifelong resident of Auburn, the son of the late Leonard Wood and the late Margaret (Dygert) Smith. 
Richard was a prominent businessman for many years, owning and operating Dick's Automotive Specialties, Inc. and DW Yacht Sales. He was a past commander of the Auburn Power Squadron, and a 50+ year member. He was also a current member of Elks Lodge #31, Camillus Order and a former member of the Watkins Glen Yacht Club. 
Dick served our country proudly and honorably in the Army during the Korean War, while stationed in Germany. He was an avid NASCAR fan, and especially liked following Dale Earnhardt Sr. 
After retirement, Dick loved wintering with his wife Barbara in Stuart, Florida, where they enjoyed his favorite pasttime of boating.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Barbara (Bazarnik) Wood, daughter Kim Pettigrass, granddaughter Ashley Pettigrass-Bertonica, her husband Jerid Bertonica, and half-sister Mary Agnes Lane.
Calling hours are Wednesday, January 7th from 4-6 PM at Pettigrass Funeral Home. Services are Thursday, January 8th at 11:00 AM at the funeral home, 196 Genesee St, Auburn. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
