Richard 'Rick' Francis Connors, 79 of Seneca Falls and formerly Auburn, passed away early Thursday morning, May 28, 2026, at the Batavia V.A. Medical Center.
He was born in Auburn, the son of the late Francis and Regina (McMillen) Connors. Rick retired from Goulds Pumps in Seneca Falls and was a member of the sheet metal workers union 3298. He previously worked for Agway and Pepsi for several years, upon retirement.
Rick joined the US Navy in 1963 and served our country honorably for 7 years in both the Navy and Navy Reserves. After a brief layoff, Rick enlisted in the NYS National Guard, 108th Division and served in Auburn for more than 4 years. Soon after, he enlisted in the US Army Reserves, 98th Division in Rochester, NY. Rick served as an Instructor of non-commissions officer corps for over 14 years, retiring in 1997 after more than 26 years of service .
Rick was instrumental along with fellow committee leaders in the opening of Sampson Veteran Cemetery in Romulus, where he was their 1st chairman. He was a member of the American Legion in Phelps, lifetime member of the American Disabled Veterans of America and was inducted into the NYS Veterans Hall of Fame in 2010. Rick was extremely proud to have served his country and share many great memories with fellow veterans.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Joanne (Di Dominick) Connors, two children, daughter Lisa (Mark) Giancola, son Duke Connors, two stepdaughters Gena (Mark) Adam and Dina Storto grandchildren, Benjamin (Elizabeth) Giancola and Jake Giancola, Camden and Erin Connors, Aaron and Lauren Adam, Kendall Corcoran ,great-grandchildren Liam, Levi , Myla, Gabi, Emerson and Lucas Giancola, sister Alyce Black, brothers Robert Connors, William ( Claire) Connors, sister-in-law Sue Connors as well as several special nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by a sister Patricia Murray, brother Thomas Connors, nephews David Connors, Mike Murray, two brothers-in-law Neil Murray and John Black.
A calling hour will be held this Tuesday, June 2nd from 10:30 am until 11:30 am in St. Patrick's Church, Seneca Falls, with his Mass of Christian burial to immediately follow at 11:30 am. Burial in Sampson Veterans Cemetery will take place at a later date.
