Robert Johnson Obituary

Robert D. Johnson, 94 of Savannah, passed away peacefully late Tuesday evening, December 2, 2025 at Seneca Nursing Home in Waterloo.

  He was born in Sodus Center, NY the son of the late Danford and Calla (Ganze) Johnson. Bob grew up in Lodi, lived in Franklin and resided the last almost  60 years in Savannah. Bob was a longtime truck driver for the Wayne County Highway Department. His first love was his family followed by his love for horses.  He raised horses for many years and was involved in many area rodeos.  Even had the good fortune of meeting Betty at a local rodeo. Bob was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He enjoyed woodworking and restoring antique furniture. He was also very active in his community over the years, taking part in several area horse shows and the 911 Tribute to America that was held for many years in Savannah. He will be greatly missed and forever held tightly in the hearts of those that loved him.

  He is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 59 years, Betty (Shaver) Johnson, four children, Wendy (Chris) Miller, Jacqueline Currier, Roberta Short, John (Tracy) Johnson, nine grandchildren, Aaron, JR, Jason, Kim, Mindy, Kristine, Matthew, Christopher, Bruce , adopted granddaughter Amber, numerous great-grandchildren as well as a niece, cousins and beloved canine friend Odie.

  In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by a son Doug, sister Pearl, brother Arlo and his most favorite horses, Buck and Baldy.

  A celebration of life will be celebrated in the Junius Volunteer Fire Department 781 Route 318, Waterloo on December 13th from 10am-1pm. Come share your memories with family.
