Rosalie N. (DeChick) Smith

Rosalie N.  (DeChick) Smith, 87 of Auburn passed away peacefully and comfortably at Finger Lakes Center for Living on Saturday, November 1, 2025.
 She was a lifelong resident of Auburn, the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Ciampi) DeChick.  Rosalie had a long and successful career in the restaurant industry, working at several local establishments, including The Meadows, The Hofbrau and was the former restaurant/banquet manager at Highland Park Golf Course.  After retiring,  she also worked in the jewelry dept. at Wal Mart for several years. Rosalie was a devout Catholic and former parishioner of both St. Mary’s and Sacred Heart Churches. She enjoyed traveling with friends to Ocean Isle Beach, N.C.. Rosalie was an excellent cook and baker, especially her “almost famous” banana bread and award winning BBQ sauce. She also liked working on word search puzzles and  supporting her caffeine fix at Dunkin Donuts. Most of all, Rosalie loved the special times spent with her family, especially her nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  She was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed.
 She is survived by her loving children, Debra (Rick) Snyder, Michael Smith ( Donna Lauretta), three beloved grandchildren, Jordan (John) Betts, Lucas (Deanna) Snyder, Lily (Jamyr) Grimes, four great-grandchildren, Harper, Nora, Colton Betts and Jasiah Grimes, brother and sister-in law Gus Vivenzio ( Kris DeChick), as well as several special nieces, nephews and cousins.

  In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband Richard, very close companion William Woodlock,  sister Dolores Vivenzio, and three brothers, Anthony, Richard and Leonard DeChick.

  Calling hours are Wednesday from 4-6 pm in the Pettigrass Funeral Home, with services to immediately follow at 6 pm, all inside the funeral home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn. Entombment will be held privately in St. Joseph’s Mausoleum.
