Rosemary Waltos Obituary

Rosemary A. Waltos, 86 passed away peacefully Monday , February 2,2026 at Newark Manor.

She was born in Auburn, the daughter of the late Francis and Mary (Vasco) Mastropietro and had been a lifelong area resident .

Rosemary graduated from West High School, received her Bachelor’s degree from Nazareth College and her Master’s degree in education from SUNY Cortland. Rosemary’s teaching career started in the former Seymour Street School and retired after more than 25 years as an elementary teacher for the Port Byron School District.  She was an avid reader, enjoyed dancing , working on crossword puzzles and liked playing solitaire and ‘pitch’ with her family and friends. She also enjoyed decorating her home for the holidays, and whether  it was Christmas or Halloween, her craftiness was always shown masterfully. Rosemary loved cooking and baking for her family and was most happy the many special times  spent with each of them. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her two loving sons, Mark (Risa) Waltos, Jeffrey Waltos, two grandchildren, Michael and Gabriella Waltos, two sisters, Marguerite Martin, Christine (Michael) Mizro as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A calling hour will be held this Friday, February 6th from 10 AM until 11 AM with her Mass of Christian burial to immediately follow,  all inside of St.Francis of Assisi  Church,  Clark St. Auburn, New York.
