Samuel Pucino Jr. Obituary

Samuel J. Pucino Jr., 92 of Auburn passed away peacefully Sunday morning, January 25,2026 at The Commons.
  He was born in Jordan, NY the son of the late Samuel and Carmella (Tesoro) Pucino Sr. , and more recently resided in Auburn.  Sam retired after more than 40 years of dedication as a  operating engineer, master mechanic and heavy equipment operator  for Bouley’s Construction. He was honored as a 50 year member in the Operating Union.  Sam served our country honorably in the US Armed Forces. He enjoyed spending winters in Florida for many years  and the summers camping at River Forest. Sam was a standout athlete , excelling in softball in his earlier years and more recently was an ace at cornhole. He was an avid New York Yankees and Syracuse University sports fan. ‘Papa Sam’ as he was affectionately known by his grandson , cherished all the special times he was fortunate to have with his grandson, Logan, especially watching his baseball games.
  He is survived by his loving son, Brian ( Jennifer) Pucino, beloved grandson Logan Pucino, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
  In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his first wife, Rose Ann (DeSarro)  Pucino, and second wife, Mary (Covich) Pucino, longtime friend  and companion in his later years ,  Lois Godfrey , sister Margaret Ziemba, and brothers Harry and Anthony Pucino.
  Calling hours are this Thursday , Jan. 29th from 4-5:30 pm in Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn.
  Samuel’s Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, Jan. 30th at 11:00 am in St. Joseph’s Church in Weedsport.
  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his memory to St. Judes Children’s Hospital.
