Sharon Marie Wade, 80 of Auburn passed away after a brief illness, October 21, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, with her loving family at her side.
She was born in Malone, NY, the daughter of the late Vetal and Alice (O’Connell) Cantwell and had resided in Cayuga, NY most of her life. Sharon worked for TRW, Auburn Plastics and owned a hair salon in Cayuga before retiring from Cayuga Correctional Facility
A devout Catholic who considered the word of God in everything she did, a fierce advocate for the underdog she despised selfishness and greed. From convict to clergy, she welcomed them all without judgement. She cherished every moment with her family and will be greatly missed by all of them.
She is survived by her best friend and loving husband of 61 years, John ‘Jack’ Wade of Auburn NY, six children, Lori (Ron)Keene of Rochester, NY, Rhonda (Peter) Flanagan of West Boylston, MA, Mindy Wade of Union Springs, NY, Sandy (Eric) Caster of Auburn, NY, John (Amy) Wade of Wolcott, NY, Brian (Debbie) Wade of Harford, NY, four brothers, Joseph (Pat) Quintal , James (Diane) Quintal, John (Colleen) Quintal, Alfred (Patty) Quintal, three sisters, Mary Ann (Warren) Albrecht, Elizabeth (Larry) Cantwell, Theresa Cantwell, grandchildren ,Rob Wade of Cayuga, NY, Brandon (Cyn) Wade of Webster, MA, Karysa (Tom) Caster of Auburn NY , Amanda (Anthony) Wade of Auburn, NY, Kelly(Jennifer) Caster of Auburn, NY, Kyle Canute Wade of Rochester, NY, Kenlie (Daniel) Wade of Rusk,TX, Justin Wade , Onyah Wade , Jaden Wade , Mason Wade all of Harford, NY, as well as 4 great grandchildren, numerous sisters and brothers in law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by a brother, Charles Quintal
Calling hours are this Friday from 4-7 pm in Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn.
Sharon’s Mass of Christian burial will be held this Saturday, October 26th at 10:00 am in St. Mary’s Church, with very close family friend, Deacon John Tomandl assisting in the mass. Interment will be held privately in Chasm Falls at the convenience of the family.
