Teresa Marie Calarco Basile, 97, of Auburn, New York died on January 23, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Salvatore, her parents Michael and Carmela Calarco, her brother Dominic Calarco, her daughter Annette Lutz and grandsons Matthew Basile, Andrew and Wesley Bunnell.
She is survived by her nine children - Salvatore (Tom Ager) Kingston-Basile of Syracuse, Marie (Stanley) Surowiec of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Michael (Gloria) of Constantia, Josephine (Donald) Newkirk of Auburn, Carol Krider of Painesville, Ohio, Elizabeth (Joseph) Piwinski of Auburn, Jeanne (Peter) Bunnell of Scipio Center, Carmella (John) Dixon of Auburn, Francis (Mary Jane) of Seneca Falls, 24 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Teresa was a life resident of Auburn, graduated from Central High School, Auburn, and worked for a time at Red Star Express Lines where she met her husband.
She was a lifelong communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church and a member of its Sacred Heart and Altar Societies. She was busy with the activities of the mothers' clubs at the church's elementary school.
Teresa loved roller skating while young and later boating on Owasco Lake with her husband and children. Reading was one of her many hobbies where she relished Perry Mason and “Student” Nurse novels. She was an expert dressmaker, knitter, embroiderer and crocheter.
She was proud of her cooking and baking especially at holiday times. Teresa enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and will be sadly missed by a great many.
Calling hours will be held this Friday, January 31st from 10 am until 11:45 am with services to follow at 12:00 pm , all inside of Saint Francis of Assisi Church.
