Valerie Ann (Walawender) Waby, 93 of Auburn passed away peacefully early New Year's Day at Westminster Manor.
She was a life resident of Auburn, born on Valentine's Day, the daughter of the late Frank and Helen (Zabinski) Walawender. Valerie retired after more than 30 years of service at the former General Electric and PowerX Companies. She was a proud member of the Sennett Seniors and enjoyed wintering in Florida with her late husband Fred. Valerie also loved to play cards and try her luck at BINGO or one of the local casinos. Valerie cherished all the many special times she was fortunate to have with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her three loving sons, David (Kathy) Waby, Ronald (Nancy) Waby, Kevin (Sue) Waby, seven grandchildren, Mike (Christine) Waby, Jason (Meghan) Waby, Theresa Rohm, Brian (Nicole) Waby, Amanda (Matt) Desimone, Zachary Waby, Lisa Rion, Jamie (Kristin) Waby, eight great-grandchildren, Brayden, Skylar, Christian, Elliana, Levi, Asher, Mia, Max, several nephews, very close niece Patti (Tom) Matthiessen as well as her close friends at the Grove on Standard Ave.
In addition to her parents, Valerie was also predeceased by her husband Frederick, a sister Stella Swizdor and two brothers Joe and Adam Walawender.
A calling hour for family and friends will be held this Tuesday, January 7, 2025, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am with a service to immediately follow all inside of the Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
