Wanda M. Brown, 72 of Auburn passed away unexpectedly, Monday afternoon, November 20, 2023, at her home.
She was born in Cortland, NY, the daughter of the late Carl and Irene (Turner) Rice. Wanda resided in both the Homer and Auburn NY areas for most of her life.
In her earlier years, she worked for the former Smith Corona Corp., and retired from Welch Allyn in Skaneateles after more than 20 years of service. Wanda enjoyed playing various card games, and especially liked the game of Pitch. She also was an avid reader and NASCAR fan, liking Mark Martin as her favorite driver.
She is survived by her two children, Joann Monk and William Rhodes, five grandchildren, Joshua, Ceiara McClure, Amanda, very close and special grandchildren, Halie (Chris) DiGenova, and Tristan Rhodes, several great-grandchildren and expecting another great-grandson in April, sisters Sharleen Woodard, Brenda West, Penny Cribbs, a brother William Rice as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Wanda was also predeceased by her husband Steven, sisters Mary Myers, Cheryl West, brothers Carl Rice Jr., Eric Rice and John Rice
A calling hour will be held this Tuesday, November 28, 2023, from 10 am until 11 am, with a service to immediately follow at 11 am, all inside of Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn. Burial will follow in Cold Brook Valley Cemetery in Spafford.
