William Barton Obituary

William E. ‘Bill’ Barton, 87 of Elbridge, passed away peacefully after a brief illness, Monday evening, January 22,2024 at Seneca Manor in Oswego.
  He was born in Cleveland, NY the son of the late George and Doris (Burnett) Barton and had been a resident of Central New York his entire life. Bill was a Korean War Air Force veteran, serving our country honorably. Bill retired from the Metropolitan Syracuse Wastewater Treatment Plant after many years of service. He was a professional magician, dazzling many children and adults with his slight of hand. Bill was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying, hunting, fishing and was a longtime member of the Elbridge Rod & Gun Club. He really enjoyed the many times shooting with his son-in- law David and Dave’s brother out in the range. Bill also liked in his earlier years, traveling with the Del - Vikings musical group and was often their opening act.
   In recent years, he could often be found at his second home, Bailiwick Market & Cafe in Elbridge, where he was known commonly as Bill and too a select few, ‘Scout’. He will be sadly missed by all who got to know this, special man.
  He is survived by his loving daughter, Kelly and her husband David Newton of Oswego, three grandsons Christopher, Jacob and Carter Newton, three stepchildren, Katherine O’Conner, John (Jeanette) Kilcoyne, Danny (Debbie) Kilcoyne, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
   In addition to his parents, Bill was also predeceased by a stepdaughter Linda Connor, two sisters Ruth and Barbara, a brother George Barton and former spouse Eleanor.
  Calling hours are this Wednesday, January 31st from 2 to 4 pm with services to follow at 4:00 pm, all inside of Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St.,Auburn. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Elbridge.
