William H. Shorey Jr., 64 of Cato passed away peacefully, Saturday evening, March 1, 2025 at Auburn Community Hospital with his loving family at his side.
He was born in Auburn, NY the son of William H. Shorey Sr. and the late Roberta (Martin) Shorey and had been an area life resident. Bill served our country honorably for the Army in the early 1980's, while stationed in Alaska. He retired after more than 25 years of service as a corrections officer for Auburn Correctional Facility. Bill was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying just about anything he could outside. Whether it was camping, fishing, hunting, boating or four wheeling , Bill was having fun and loving all of it. Bill loved life to its fullest and will be sadly missed by all who were fortunate enough to get to know this special man.
He is survived by his loving father William (Kathy ) H. Shorey Sr., three siblings, Melinda (Joseph) Catalfano, Melissa (Mark) Stoppert, Amanda McBride, very special, almost like grandchildren to Bill, Adrienna and Hanna, who referred Bill as 'Paca" to them, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and his beloved feline friend, Milo.
In addition to his mother, Bill was also predeceased by his grandparents, Howard and Gertrude Shorey.
Calling hours are this Wednesday from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm , with services to immediately follow in the Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St.,Auburn. Military honors will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
