Wilma Van Kersbergen Obituary

Wilma G. (Puplichuizen) Van Kersbergen, 90 of Skaneateles passed away Friday, November 10, 2023, at The Commons on Saint Anthony in Auburn.

 She immigrated from Holland in 1960 and became a US Citizen a few years later in 1964. Wilma was born to Henderikus and Geertruide  (Bosch) Puplichuizen, and lived most of her adult life in the Utica, NY area and more recently in Orlando and Skaneateles. She worked for many years for various attorneys as a legal secretary, mostly for the former Richard Rettinger in Utica.

   She enjoyed being a member of the German Club in Utica and Orlando. Wilma loved to sew, garden and cook for her family and friends. She cherished all the special times she was able to celebrate with her husband, children, grandchildren, siblings and friends. She will be sadly missed.

  Wilma is survived by her loving children, daughter Denise Asselta and her husband Ret. Rear Admiral Christopher Asselta of Fla., a son Rene Van Kersbergen and his wife Danielle of Skaneateles, four grandchildren, Stephen Asselta, Victoria Asselta and her fiancé Logan  Demere, Gavin and Jensen Van Kersbergen, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

  In addition to her parents, Wilma was also predeceased by her husband Ferdinand and six siblings.

  As were Wilma's wishes, there are no services and a private burial will be conducted by the family at their convenience.
